The National Vice President of the National Open University, North Central Nigeria, Mr. Edward Louis, recently concluded a vital familiarization tour aimed at strengthening unity and collaboration among the region's chapters.
From July 13th, VP Louis embarked on a journey across the North Central states to meet with alumni leaders, stakeholders, and students. The primary goal of the tour was to foster a harmonious relationship between the chapters and the National Open University Alumni leadership.
Starting in Plateau State on July 13th, VP Louis was warmly welcomed by the local alumni community, stakeholders, and the State Executive Council. He then proceeded to Benue State, Makurdi, on July 19th, 2024, followed by Nasarawa State on July 20th, 2024. From Nasarawa, the VP moved to Kogi State, Lokoja, on July 22nd, 2024, and then to Ilorin, Kwara State. He concluded the tour in Minna, Niger State, and the FCT Abuja. Throughout his journey, he conveyed the best wishes of his principal, the President of NAUNAA, who is committed to ensuring a brighter and greater NAUNAA. The National Vice President for the North Central Region celebrated and congratulated the projects undertaken by the state leadership of the chapters and pledged for a strengthened partnership between them and the National leadership.
Throughout his tour, VP Louis engaged in productive discussions addressing key challenges facing the region's open university community. Key issues included:
Promoting Unity: Strengthening cooperation among study centers within the North Central zone.
Expanding Access: Advocating for increased study centers to accommodate growing student numbers.
Infrastructure Development: Addressing the need for dedicated offices in states currently lacking such facilities.
Equitable Resource Allocation: Ensuring fair distribution of resources, particularly in relation to the solar project.
Many of these issues were resolved during the tour, while others have been forwarded to the National Executive Council for further consideration.
North Central VP Louis' visit is expected to yield significant benefits for the North Central region's open university community. By fostering unity, addressing infrastructure gaps, and promoting equitable resource allocation, the tour has laid a solid foundation for future growth and development.
