Strengthening Partnerships for Sustainable Water Supply
The Managing Director of Jos Water Services Corporation, Engr. Apollos S. Samchi, addressed development partners, participants, and stakeholders during the Agence Française de Développement (AFD) / Federal Ministry of Water Resources and Sanitation (MWR&S) Coordination Mission held recently at the Old Government Lodge, Enugu State.
The mission focused on the Third National Urban Water Supply Reform Project, a joint collaboration involving Plateau State, the Federal Ministry of Water Resources and Sanitation, and the Agence Française de Développement (AFD).
Key Highlights of the AFD Project
Currently, two major water treatment plants, Yakubu Gowon Dam (YGD) and Laminga Water Treatment Plant, are undergoing rehabilitation under this project. Once completed, the initiative will:
Rehabilitate both treatment plants.
Construct over 400km of new pipeline networks.
Install modern metering systems.
These interventions are designed to improve access to clean and sustainable water supply for communities across Plateau State, particularly in Jos and Bukuru metropolis.

The two-day coordination mission brought together representatives from:
Federal Ministry of Water Resources
Federal Ministry of Finance
Development partners and international agencies
Four participating states: Enugu (South-East), Ondo (South-West), Kano (North-West), and Plateau (North-Central).
