Light Bearer Magazine Shines Bright at Fundraising Event
The Church of Christ in Nations (COCIN) media arm received a significant boost on May 2nd, 2024, as Light Bearer magazine, the organization's newspaper, held a special lecture and fundraising event. Focused on ensuring the publication's continued impact, the event highlighted the importance of truthful reporting and garnered support from both government officials and the COCIN community.
Governor's Representative Delivers Strong Message of Support:
While unable to attend due to being out of the country, the Plateau State Executive Governor sent a clear message of appreciation for the Light Bearer's longstanding service. The Honorable Commissioner of Information in the company of the Director of press and and public affairs to the Governor, representing the Governor, described him and his cabinet as products of the church, pledging continued support for the church and its endeavors.
Emphasis on Truthful Reporting in Challenging Times:
The Governor's address underscored the critical role of accurate and unbiased reporting, particularly during challenging times. He urged the Light Bearer to remain steadfast in its commitment to truth, even in the face of potential misinterpretations. His statement, "if they write an 'M,' they should be mindful of those that will attempt to twist it into a 'W' or even an 'E,'" powerfully emphasizes the importance of responsible journalism in today's complex media landscape.

The event was bolstered by the presence of distinguished guests, including Prof. Suleiman Bogoro (chairman of the occasion), Hon. Beni Lar (chair lady), Prof. CJ Dakas (guest speaker), Mr. Sunday Dankwai (Chief Fundraiser), Dr . Patrick Dakum. Also present were the Former COCIN presidents and clergy men, and Rev. Dr. Isaac Wakili (Agwom Izere), among others, some of them ably represented. Rev. Prof. Pandang Yamsat and some few dignitaries received an award for their continuous support to the light bearer magazine.
