On Sunday, June 24th, 2024, to commemorate International Widows Day, First Lady Helen Mutfwang officially flagged off a 3-day training program for over 200 widows from all 17 LGAs and IDP camps at the Plateau State Government House. This initiative aimed to empower them with the skills and resources to produce and package household consumables like liquid soap, bleach, detergents, petroleum jelly, disinfectants, and balms.
Continuing her dedication to Plateau's widows, particularly those affected by recent unrest, Mrs. Mutfwang's program provided participants with the knowledge and startup capital needed to launch their own businesses. The widows expressed immense gratitude for this initiative, praising Mrs. Mutfwang and Governor Caleb Mutfwang's led administration for programs that directly improve their lives and the community. Special commendation also goes to Hon. Caroline Planglang Dafur, commissioner for women affairs, for her role in ensuring the program's smooth coordination.
