The Director/Chief Executive of the National Centre for Remote Sensing (NCRS) Jos, Dr. D.N Jeb has called for more educational collaboration and synergy between NCRS and the Nigeria Defence Academy (NDA).
The collaboration and synergy should include among others; project implementation, visiting lecturing, supervision of student research work and analysis, provision of data, admission slot for staff and other relevant training services.
He said "let our meeting not be annual event or when students come on educational field trip only"
The director, NCRS spoke when Lecturers who led 29 NDA Cadets from the department of geography on educational field trip visited him in his office.
The leader of the team, Prof. Taiye O. Adewuyi , a Remote Sensing and GIS specialist told the DNCRS that the trip was to acquaint the Cadets with the field applications of all courses being taught in the classroom.
He maintained that the trip was to impart the Cadets with knowledge through practical exercises on how to identify, study and solve geographical problems.
Prof. Adewuyi said the trip was to also teach the Cadets method of generating geographical data in the field and updating them on the contemporary issues of development in Nigeria.
Earlier, Mr. Joshua Dang, a Deputy Director exposed the Cadets to the basics of Remote Sensing technology and Geographic Information System (GIS).
